Wallet Recovery Steps
Getting back into the Phantom wallet from the old SSD. Follow these in order when the drive adapter arrives.
The money is safe. It's on the blockchain, not the computer. The crash never touched it. The SSD only holds the key. Get the key back and the funds are right there.
0 The one golden rule
From now on, treat the original SSD as read-only. Nobody reinstalls, reformats, or "tries something" on it. Every write can erase what's left. The original is the loose drive the shop handed back, not the new blank one in the machine.
1 Pick the right drive
- Original = has your old files (a
Users\<your name> folder full of your stuff).
- New = blank or fresh Windows. Ignore it.
- Not sure? Plug each into the adapter and check which one has your old Users folder.
2 Mount the original drive
Put the original SSD in the adapter, plug it into a clean working PC as an external drive. Three outcomes:
- Shows up and you can browse it → great, go to Step 3.
- Says "you need to format this disk" → DO NOT click format. Close it and message me.
- Doesn't show up at all → message me before doing anything else.
3 Copy the wallet folder (make 2 copies)
In File Explorer turn on View > Hidden items, then go to:
[SSD]\Users\<your name>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Extension Settings\bfnaelmomeimhlpmgjnjophhpkkoljpa\
- That folder is your encrypted wallet. Copy the whole
bfnaelmom... folder.
- If you used a Chrome profile other than Default, also grab
Profile 1, Profile 2, etc.
- Save it in TWO places (a USB stick + the working PC). That's your $50K insurance copy.
4 Grab the backup key too
Search the drive's file contents for any .txt holding the words phantom, seed, password, a 12-word phrase, or a long random string. Also check the OTHER computer. A saved seed is a second way in.
5 Get back in (with Jarvis)
Message me once the folder is copied. Two routes:
- Transplant: fresh Chrome + Phantom on a clean PC, drop the folder in, type your password, you're in.
- Script: I read the vault files and decrypt them straight with your password to pull the 12 words. Done offline, your seed never leaves the machine.
6 Secure the money right away
- Once in: Settings > Security > Show Secret Recovery Phrase → write the 12 words on paper.
- Make a brand new wallet on a clean device and send all the funds to it. The old key touched a crashed, shop-handled drive, so treat it as burned.
STOP and message Jarvis if:
- The drive asks to format — never click it.
- The drive won't show up at all.
- The wallet folder looks empty or corrupted.
Don't guess at these. One wrong click is the only thing that can lose the money.
